As Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ), we have a long history based on the Turkish Electricity Authority, which was founded in 1970 and we're moving towards bigger goals more decisively, proud of leaving behind the years full of achievements since 2001 that we started our journey under the name of TEİAŞ.&nbsp;With our strong heritage that we received from the past, we operate the electricity transmission system and network of Türkiye at international standards, in a good quality and economical and reliable manner.&nbsp;While expanding our electricity transmission infrastructure each day in parallel with the developments in the energy need, we cross the mountains and deep straits that are difficult to overcome with our electricity transmission lines and we 24/7 transmit Türkiye’s energy all over the country with our 18.000 employees, 22 regional directorates and 10 load dispatch centers.&nbsp;Today, while taking firm steps with the vision of being a leading system and network operator compatible with our country's national energy policies and integrated into international energy markets, we are continuously making contributions to the economy of our country with our strong financial structure and qualified expert staff.&nbsp;We have great goals for the coming period. Within the framework of our agreement with the first nuclear power plant of our country, we will connect the produced energy to our electricity transmission system. Message from our General Manager

A signing ceremony for the Observer Membership Agreement with ENTSO-E was held at the ENTSO-E Headquarters in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, on 13 December 2022. The Observer Membership Agreement will be valid for a period of three years, effective January 1, 2023.With this agreement, the European Transmission System Operators express their commitment to continue to fulfill their responsibilities to strengthen and develop cooperation in interconnected power systems and with it to keep the lights on at all times in Europe and beyond.Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of our Corporation, Mr. Orhan KALDIRIM, at the ceremony, "underlined the positive contribution of TEİAŞ to the stability of the Continental Europe synchronous area and expressed his wishes for the Agreement to further develop the technical and operational cooperation between ENTSO-E and TEİAŞ."ENTSO-E President Mr. Herve LAFFAYE congratulated everyone working on the Agreement with the signing of the Observer Membership Agreement, which will strengthen cooperation and support the sharing of best practices to maintain transmission system stability.

ENTSO-E Observer Membership Agreement Signed

CIGRE 49th Paris Session, organized biennially, was held in Paris/France between 29 August and 2 September 2022 with over 3500 participants from 90 countries.TEİAŞ took its place in the event where our country was represented by the Türkiye National Committee. In the 49th Session, where all papers were presented as posters according to the format of the event, 6 previously accepted papers were presented on behalf of Türkiye.&nbsp;TEİAŞ personnel, who is among the authors of the papers, made the presentation of 4 papers. Titles of papers &nbsp;and presenters are below:"Cycle life assessment of battery energy storage systems for primary frequency control by rainflow counting algorithm” by Ercüment ÖZDEMİRCİ&nbsp;"Site Application of Anti Torsion Pendulum and Interphase Space for the Prevention of Ice Load on Transmission Line Systems in Turkey" by Mete UZAR&nbsp;"Electromagnetic interference investigation of two transmission lines with a naturfal buried gas pipeline: A study on the Agrı-Horasan region in Turkey" &nbsp;Özgür ÇETİN and"A Research on Power Quality of Storage System in Photovoltaic Energy Generation Systems in Distribution Networks" by Halil İbrahim AYDINÖZ&nbsp;In addition, TEİAŞ personnel attended various meetings and a presentation was made by Özgür ÇETİN at the B2 Transmission Lines Working Group.CIGRE Türkiye National Committee hosted SEERC Management Board (MB) and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings hosted by the Turkish Embassy in Paris, and a reception was given after the meetings.Active participation was ensured on behalf of TEİAŞ and CIGRE Türkiye National Committee in this global event of the sector, which brought together leading company officials, academics and experts in the field of electrical power systems from all over the world.

TEİAŞ Took Place at the 49th CIGRE Paris Session

TEIAS took its place in the "Türkiye-Azerbaijan 1st Energy Forum" held in Baku on 21-22 December 2021 co-chaired by Mr. Fatih DÖNMEZ-Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Republic of Türkiye and Mr. Perviz ŞAHBAZOV-Minister of Energy of Republic of Azerbaijan. Within the scope of the forum; Mr. Orhan KALDIRIM, General Manager of TEIAS, met with sector executives Representatives of TEIAS participated in Electricity Market, Electricity Distribution and Transmission Working Group and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Working Group meetings.&nbsp;In addition, Mr. Orhan KALDIRIM and the accompanying TEIAS delegation visited Azerbaijan transmission system operator AZERENERJI and a cooperation protocol was signed between the two transmission system operators. As part of the protocol; both system operators agreed on sharing experiences on many issues, especially on system integration of renewable energy resources, expanding cooperation on electricity export and import, and establishing a working group on the new Nahcivan-Türkiye interconnection line.

Cooperation between TEIAS and AZERENERGY

The term presidency of SEERC (Southeast Europe Regional Council), one of the four regional councils of CIGRE, was transferred from the CIGRE Austrian National Committee to the CIGRE Türkiye National Committee at the end of the 3rd SEERC Conference organized online on 30 November 2021.In SEERC, which was established in 2013 and has 17 members, it is aimed to develop regional cooperation and increase knowledge-experience sharing. CIGRE Türkiye National Committee also aims to carry out more effective and efficient work in the region, to develop cooperation and to grow with new members during the term of its presidency covering the years 2021-2023. With the 4th SEERC Conference to be held in Istanbul on the 100th anniversary of our Republic, in 2023, the presidency will be transferred to another country.Türkiye's transmission system operator TEIAS will play an important role in many studies under the term presidency of SEERC, with its position both in Southeastern Europe and in the CIGRE Turkish National Committee.&nbsp;

CIGRE SEERC 2021-2023 TERM PRESIDENCY IN TÜRKİYE

Med-TSO, of which TEİAŞ is among the members, is initiating its third project TEASIMED with the support of European Commission after successful completion Mediterranean Project 1 (MP1) and Mediterranean Project 2 (MP 2). New project envisages 6 studies to be carried out:1. Updating the Mediterranean Master Plan (MMP);&nbsp;2. Consolidating the common technical regulatory framework;&nbsp;3. Identifying and putting into operation some of the selected Interconnected Electricity Exchange Zones (IEEZ), with a view of increasing electricity exchanges in the region;&nbsp;4. Optimizing planning capacities and operation procedures;&nbsp;5. Establishing the Med-TSO Knowledge Sharing System;&nbsp;6. Providing efficient support to the UfM Regional Electricity Market Platform, in close collaboration with the Association of the Mediterranean Regulators for Energy, MEDREG.With TEASIMED, Med-TSO intends to focus more of its activities on the practical implementation of the guidelines, rules, and methodologies defined in the first two projects by developing pilot projects in selected areas of the Mediterranean region and strengthening the cooperation in Operation. More specifically, this new initiative includes the launch of a pilot project for implementing and harmonising Technical and Operational Rules in the Maghreb countries. It also envisages a stronger coordination of the national Network Development Plans with the definition of coordinated procedures in the Operation area for a better utilisation of the existing interconnection capacity and promoting the development of new key interconnection projects.TEİAŞ, a member and vice president of Med-TSO, will continue support in the TEASIMED project like MP1 and MP2, and Turkish electricity transmission system will be a part of international projects.

Med-TSO starts its last project: TEASIMED

Turkish National Committee was selected to presidency of South East Europe Regional Council (SEERC), which is a regional organization of CIGRE, of which TEİAŞ is among the members. The term presidency of SEERC, of which 17 countries are members, will be taken over from Austria in November 2021 and will be maintained by Turkish National Committee until 2023.TEİAŞ, actively participating both in CIGRE and Turkish National Committee, will play an effective role in the works to be carried out during Turkish presidency and will undertake activities that will leave a mark in Europe.&nbsp;

Within the scope of the visit, a meeting was held in the office of Mr. Muhammer Nuri ASLAN, Deputy General Manager of our Organization, and mutual information was exchanged about the electricity transmission system of our country and Uzbekistan. Following the visit, the National Load Dispatch Center was visited with the delegation of Uzbekistan.

On 14 February 2020, a visit was made to our Organization by the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Sherzod KHODJAEV and the Uzbekistan System Operator UZBEKENERGO JSC Vice President Mr. Jahongir OBIDJONOV.

On 6-7 November 2019, Med-TSO, the Association of Mediterranean Transmission System Operators (TSO) for electricity, held its 18th General Assembly in Istanbul, welcoming 22 representatives from 13 TSOs in 12 countries. For the first time after some time, Egypt, a key player for the near future, joined the discussions.The event was dedicated to reviewing progress made with Med-TSOs ambitious projects and goals, including the current Mediterranean Project 2 to promote the progressive integration and interconnection of Power Systems and the enhancement of cross-border electricity exchanges in the Mediterranean region.“Med-TSO has entered a new phase in its history” said Moncef Harrabi, President of Med-TSO and CEO of STEG Tunisia “We are increasingly perceived as a reference and dominant technical force in the Mediterranean region. The seeds we planted in 2012 are flourishing and the time has come to strengthen our roots” he continued.The opening day was dedicated to the Executive Board, which encapsulated the planning for the end of 2019 and for coming years, including the New EC Grant 2020-2022 and the Action Plan 2020-2025. Proposals by the Executive Board were scheduled to be presented by the entire Assembly for approval on the following day.On November 7, participants attended the General Assembly, which focused on the New Grant 2020-2022, assigned by the European Commission to develop a new project.Hervè Laffaye, Vice-President of Med-TSO and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of RTE (France) highlighted how the Med-TSO’s projects are in line with the enlarged scope of the European Commission’s objectives on energy transition in close connection with the Paris Agreement. “Our infrastructure is a tool to make a link between the objectives of the EU and in our case, the Mediterranean. One of the issues we must tackle is the penetration of the renewables also in that part of the world.” – he asserted.The Assembly also showcased the new Action Plan 2020-2025, adapted following the renewed interest shown by the European Commission in the Association’s technical activities.Another important element of the agenda was the Knowledge Sharing Programme. In the view of the Assembly, this activity should become one of the qualifying points of the Association’s development, allowing the transfer of core knowledge from the North to South Mediterranean area, the exchange of the best practices among all countries, and the establishment of knowledge networks in order to retain the acquired knowledge, which will be made available to all members at any given time.The two-day event was hosted by the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation, TEAİŞ,. Its Head of Planning and Investment Management Department Serhat Metin, also Vice-President of Med-TSO, has declared the Corporation’s intention to continue supporting all activities for the coming years.

MED-TSO HOLDS ITS GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN TÜRKİYE

The National Load Dispatch Center has the most important function in ensuring the real-time generation-consumption balance by maintaining the security and supply quality of the national energy generation and transmission system and operating the 400 kV transmission system that forms the main backbone of the network and operating the balancing power market and real-time ancillary services market.Regional Load Dispatch Centers mainly carry out 154 kV transmission system operation, maneuver, data collection and evaluation activities.Within the scope of load dispatch operation, electricity supply and demand is balanced in real time, the Balancing Power Market and Ancillary Services Market are operated, operational planning is carried out, international interconnection lines are operated, faulty situations and planned work maneuvers are carried out, short-term energy planning is made, daily operation programs and load frequency control are performed, N-1 analyzes are carried out to establish system security.

Load Dispatch Control Centers

Mobile Substations are of great importance for Türkiye's energy supply security. It can quickly meet the energy requirement in the region in case of a natural disaster or maintenance-failure of the SubStations in the operation. There are 12 mobile Substations in our company.Long processes are required to establish fixed Substations in the energy sector. In addition, with the migration waves, rapid increases can occur in energy requirement. Mobile Substations are portable substations with 154 / 33.6 kV 50 MVA power and capable of meeting the energy requirement of a medium-sized city. The mobile SubStations that are put into service weigh 150 tons and are 27 meters long. They are transported by a special trailer with high maneuverability.These Substations become ready for service in a few days where additional power is needed.

Mobile Substations

Live maintenance operations with helicopter are carried out in high-voltage lines without interrupting the power by using a method that is applied for the first time in Türkiye in 2019. First of all, energy transmission lines are aerial surveyed by helicopter. At the specified points, each of the insulators, which are polluted over time due to dust, sand, chemical wastes, pesticides, sea salt, and which may cause malfunctions, are cleaned with purified water sprayed from the helicopter in about two minutes.On the other hand, in live maintenance activities with helicopters, energy transmission lines, which are difficult to access from the ground, are provided by aerial access and malfunctions are eliminated or periodic maintenance works are carried out. The works are carried out by our technicians in the basket with isolated ropes hanging from the helicopter, with live maintenance method without de-energizing the line.

Thanks to live maintenance with helicopter, we carry out maintenance activities in the areas that are difficult to reach, meters above the ground without switching off the energy of the system.

Live Maintenance with Helicopter

We have been providing energy security of supply of the region by connecting Europe and Asia under the sea at the Dardanelles Strait since we launched first high-voltage submarine cabling project of Türkiye in 2015.The first project put into service, is 3.9 km long Lapseki 1 - Sütlüce 1 submarine cable and it is the first jointless project in the world at 400 kV at this length. After this project, we implemented the second submarine cable project with 4.1 km long Lapseki 2 - Sütlüce 2 line in 1 km south.The connection consists of a 4-circuit double-circuit alternating current (AC) energy transmission system, each with a capacity of 1000 MW between Lapseki substation on the Asian side and Sütlüce substation on the European side.

Submarine Power Transmission Cable

We work continuously with our live maintenance teams in our energy transmission lines and Substations to ensure uninterrupted and quality electrical energy, minimize interruptions and reduce energy and production losses.We perform these live maintenance applications in two ways: The first one is the distance working method. Here, our operators carry out maintenance work with isolated rods (an insulating apparatus with a hook end used for safety during maneuver) and equipment connected to these rods, taking into account the distances calculated and to be complied with before the operation. The second one is the method of working on potential.In this method, our operators perform the work depending on certain rules and distances, by entering into the same potential with the system potential in three different ways. Vehicles such as positioning chair, ladder and insulated tower, isolated crane are used to provide the operator the same potential with the system potential. With our investments in Research &amp; Development and innovation, we provide saving of both source and time, transmit Türkiye's energy 24/7 all over our country.
